For me, this process is like launching a Space X rocket into atmosphere. I have put a ton of time, effort, and research into my podcast prep. My hope is the launch will be successful. Also, that no one gets killed and nothing else goes into sudden crash and burn mode.

On the other hand, a couple of very important matters couldn’t be more different in comparing a rocket with launching a new show. First, you don’t have a whole nation tuning in to see what happens when you start a new podcast. Unfortunately, it is the opposite scenario. And second, other than being males, it is hard to find much which you can compare Thomas Baldrick with Elon Musk.

The above quote shouts the reason why podcast prep is so vital for a new show. Credit Irish poet, Oscar Wilde and legendary cowboy, Will Rogers for the statement. No one seems to know who said it first. That’s not important here. Yet, what is paramount is the passion and desire to get the show off to a strong start.

The mindset is indeed admirable. However, the truth is almost all podcasts take time to get noticed or generate some sort of traction. There is not a great amount of podcast data available. It is a bit of a surprise to say such a thing in 2025. But this much I know. More than 4 out of 5 podcasts never make it to a 10th episode before they are abandoned.

With all of the research, ideas, passion, and podcast prep I am doing, “Bingeworthy with Baldrick will not be aborted at the launch pad. The much harder task for me hosting the show will be mastering that other famous Will Rogers quote. “Never miss a good chance to shut up.”
