Robin Bartlett Vietnam Veteran
After growing up in a family history filled with U.S. Army Officers, Robin Bartlett decided he’d had enough. The moving from place to place every two years was a major reason. He enrolled in college to pursue degrees in literature and French. However, while he was a college student, the Vietnam War was escalating. Robin joined the ROTC at school and readied himself for service. After graduating, he volunteered for the U.S. Army. He went in as a 2nd Lieutenant, but mainly because of all the dead and wounded officers, he was quickly promoted,
As a 1st Lieutenant, he was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division with a pressure-packed duty of leading a platoon. Their missions like many in 1968 were quite dangerous. Robin was in charge of leading his men during helicopter combat assaults. Known by the code name, “Charlie Alpha,” they would fly into hot landing zones. These were locations where the Vietnamese Army was waiting and watching. Think of it this way. Robin and his men knew they were entering some of the worst places of Vietnam at the worst time of the bloody and brutal war. The story of how he was wounded in battle but survived is truly mind-boggling. This is just of his memorable combat experiences, and you will hear all about from the decorated with valor Vietnam Veteran.
Robin Bartlett Author
After Robin completed in tour in Vietnam, he remained a U.S. Army Officer. First, he produced a video about the war. Finally, after many suggestions, he wrote a book. It is a most impressive and hard to put down publication. The book is titled, “Vietnam Combat: Firefights and Writing History.” Don’t just take my word for how good a read it is. The book has glowing testimonials from General Barry McCaffrey, a 3-time Purple Heart Recipient. Plus, General H.R. McMaster. You may recall he was the National Security Advisor during the first Trump Administration. Also, Jan Scruggs, the man who founded the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
May you listen and learn much from this fascinating conversation with Vietnam Veteran Author, Robin Bartlett, a true American Hero.
