Episode 12 of Binge with Baldrick feels to me like the 12 Days of Christmas wrapped up into one. I truly hope you will feel the same way after joining me for “The Real North Pole is Magical.” My goodness did I ever love visiting the city of North Pole Alaska. This is because it is such a unique community and a very special place. Christmas is 365 days a year in this setting. At least they don’t have to worry about pulling out the decorations for a couple weeks then packing them up again.
Real North Pole
You will find North Pole about 15 miles southwest of Fairbanks in thee interior of the great state of Alaska. It is located by taking a straight shot, beautiful drive down the Richardson Highway. You will know you’re there once you take the exit for Santa Claus Drive. Really. It’s not just the Christmas named streets, but the candy cane light poles, and the festive lights which are proudly posted all year round.
The real North Pole has a population of nearly 3,000 people. Many are born there as the generations of families come but don’t go. North Pole isn’t limited to just having the benefits of small town togetherness. Its people embody the Christmas spirit every day, in everything they do. What is wonderful to me is how neighborly they are to one another. The harsh winter conditions of 30 to 40 degrees below zero when I was there made for quite an education. People need each other depend on each other. Furthermore, they embrace visitors like me instead of finding us a nuisance like other destinations can.
Santa Claus House

Yes, Santa Claus is real. And yes, he really lives here in North Pole. The Santa Claus House is the bid tourism attraction. It lures kids from 1 to 92 from all over the world. They come all year long, too. It is not just a last-minute thing like Christmas shopping. There is so much to do, see, and experience here. And because of this you will find an endless supply of opportunities for making new memories as well as reliving those from your childhood.
Please enjoy this Binge with Baldrick podcast episode about the real magic of the real North Pole. Our next episode after this will be about the Santa Claus House, just in time for his big trip. Ho Ho Ho!
