Children of Addiction Video

I know I have the heart. It explains why I have worked to benefit kids most of my adult life. Life does have its share of priceless rewards, doesn’t it? However, I also know I sometimes don’t have the stomach for it. Latest case in point? The new Children of Addiction video I was involved in producing.

Many things happening to our kiddos these days are rather upsetting. But now that my baby is in the United States Air Force at least I don’t worry about protecting him (as much). This new video has me concerned. The National Center for Children of Addiction has its hands full.

I wish I could say the same about the saga shared in our children of addiction video. Many of these kiddos are right out there in the open on their family’s front lines. Still, it remains difficult for the support they need to be recognized and delivered. Certainly, it is not intentional. I say this because we all know what happens.

In the matter of a substance use disorder, the spotlight naturally shines on the struggling user. Whether it is alcohol or drug addiction, or co-occurring disorders, the primary focus is the person needing or going for treatment. Meanwhile, the families are struggling, too. It is true for both one parent and two parent situations. As hard as it is for the adults, the children do not have it any easier.

I was asked to join a unique collaboration. It stemmed from a large business conference run by a world-renowned motivational speaker. I was not even attending his conference. However, the idea for the video production became a central role in the team’s effort. The goal was to benefit others no matter how busy they were themselves.

Our concept was selected because the group leader is a generous man with a passion for mental health and addiction. We decided on the children of addiction video. It does a good job of shifting the focus where support is needed.

By watching, will see a staggering statistic. Naturally, it grabs the spotlight. Yet again, the real-life focus should be elsewhere. Though we shared the latest clinical data on children of addiction, there is a caveat.

The information is from a 2023 clinical trial. Today, addiction in America is worse, not better.
